Flashbytes on Forbes – William Duer and the Great Wall Street Crash of 1792

William Duer

by Philip Loyd…

That’s right, your beloved founder Philip Loyd is now doing his crazy Flashbytes thing on, of all places, Forbes. Philip on Forbes. And about whom? What? Hamilton? Franklin? Not hardly. How about William Duer? Huh? Exactly. William Duer and the great Wall Street crash of 1792.

Come check out The Panic, as it was originally titled, on Forbes.com. The Panic, starring Wall Street’s very first swindler himself, William Duer. Still waiting to hear personally from the man, Steve Forbes, himself. Ha!

More about the man himself, William Duer

Believe it or not, most the feedback I get from this story is from stock brokers who want to know more about Duer himself. No problem:

William Duer was a British-born American jurist, developer, and financial speculator from New York City. Even more, he was one of the original continental congressmen who helpedfound the country. In 1778, Duer signed the United States Articles of Confederation and is one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.

You may not have heard about him because things didn’t go to well for Duer. He is the man held responsible for the great Wall Street crash of 1792.

  1. Hi there,
I have some questions for you:
Is the fiction that is submitted here must be the one unpublished yet? for instance, I have 3 novels that have already published by the mayor publisher. Is it possible for me to submitt one of them here? or I must write the new one special for here? thank you.
