Established in 1981, Luath Press is a leading Scottish independent book publisher with over 800 books in print including modern fiction, history, politics, travel guides, poetry and much more.
Luath Press takes its name from poet Robert Burns, whose little collie Luath tripped up Jean Armour at a wedding and gave him the chance to speak to the woman who was to be his wife.
Originally set up in the heart of Burns country, Luath Press is now based a few steps up the road from Burns’ first lodgings on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.
Luath offers distinctive writing with a Scottish flare. Luath is interested in politics, history, humor, fiction, poetry and more.
When it was discovered that there were no guide books to many areas of Scotland, the Luath Press was born. Its very first publication was the Luath Guide Series.
