7.13 Books is open for submissions, looking for new and emerging, even debut authors.
7.13 is an author-run, independent press that publishes primarily debut authors of adult literary fiction. While run by fellow writers, 7.13 is a traditional publisher.
“Run by authors for authors, 7.13 Books is committed to making beautiful works of literary fiction and offering a publishing experience that’s respectful to and even reverent of first-time authors.”
As a publisher, 7.13 Books aspires to be a partner in getting writers started on their lives as authors.

Submissions
Unsolicited submissions welcome. No agent required.
7.13 is currently reading submissions for publication in 2026 and beyond. They publish 2-5 books a year. 7.13 is looking for writers who have not yet published a book of literary fiction. Query first.
7.13 is looking for novels and short-story collections that the Big Five seem to have lost all interest in.
Not looking for: YA, Middle Grade, New Adult, multi-book Science Fiction and/or Fantasy series, and Romance. 7.13 Books publishes Adult Literary Fiction.
*There is a $5 reading fee, but that seems fair. In the old days we had to buy paper and envelopes and stamps. Besides, it keeps the unserious out.

Letter from the publisher
Is your story like mine?
Have you been plugging away for years trying to find that enterprising, attentive, well-connected literary agent who will magically whisk your manuscript to an editor at a Big Five?
Are you losing hope?
Increasingly, the Big Five prefer the blockbuster genres. That’s why independent and university presses have proliferated to fill the gap.
See if your book fits in with these 7.13 titles.
