Outpost19 Books is a publisher of novels, memoirs, biographies, short fiction and essay collections. Outpost19 publishes a wide range of non-fiction and fiction, from traditional narratives to experimental work, including 5 LGBTQ titles exploring new queer experiences.

Outpost19 also offers The Shortish Project, highlighting short novels getting published now by big and small publishers – and notable short novels from the past 200 years.

In previous years, Outpost19’s biennial anthology of California writing engaged a new editor for each edition. Lisa Locascio edited Golden State 2017: The Best New Writing from California. Sarah LaBrie edited the 2016 edition, and J. Ryan Stradal edited the 2014 anthology, both of which were titled California Prose Directory. The series was originally conceived and edited by Charles McLeod in 2013.
