Founded in 2003, Bitter Lemmon is a London-based indie publisher. While based in London, the press loves writing about faraway places. Such authors include Tonino Benacquista of France, Leonardo Padura of Cuba, and Gianrico Carofiglio of Italy, and many others.

Bitter Lemon Press is pleased to receive submissions in the literary crime and thriller genres by email to: books@bitterlemonpress.com. Please do not send complete ms. Synopsis and sample chapters first.

Translations of published novels

Translators should attach the first two chapters of a completed work and a brief outline of plot events to their submission query email. The email should list previous translation work by the translator.

Wilmington Square Books

In 2014 Bitter Lemon launched a new imprint called Wilmington Square Books. It is a non-fiction list dedicated to writing about culture and society and includes works on the visual and plastic arts, literature, history, philosophy and travel.
