Central Avenue Publishing is home to fiction and poetry.

Founded in 2008, Central Avenue is a traditional press featuring talented, driven and committed writers of original fiction, poetry and selected non-fiction.

Central Avenue Publishing Submission Guidelines

“Submissions of poetry and full length novels are open to agents only.”

Whoops. That should leave non-fiction wide open.

Best to query. Remember, this is an independent press, not one of the Big Five. There is oftentimes wiggle room.

Central Avenue is particularly interested in upmarket, character-driven stories, creative memoir, or genre fiction in the magical realism and historical fiction/romance genres.  They are open to creative non-fiction, however.

Meet the Editors

Michelle Halket (Publisher) – Michelle is a bibliophile with an education and career in economic and market research. Now that she’s been running this press for the past fifteen years, she finds herself fully immersed in words, paper stock, and devices.

Jessica Peirce (Senior Editor) – Jessica studied English literature for her undergrad degree before embarking on a widely varied career that always brought her back to the publishing world. She bases her editing and writing work out of her home in Toronto.

Molly Ringle (Copy Editor) – Molly has written stories on the side throughout her day jobs and her studies in anthropology and linguistics, and recently also earned a certificate in editing.
