About Akoya Publishing

New independent publisher, Akoya Publishing, has announced its launch with a slate of 17 books set for 2025/2026. Akoya is a literary press that celebrates courageous, visionary and innovative writing. They are home for authors and translators, not just their books.

Akoya is a new literary press which “celebrates courageous, visionary and innovative writing.” Akoya was founded by Norwegian entrepreneur Camilla Hagen, with Xenia Stafford as the managing director, and is a “longtime vision coming to life.”

The new press will be dedicated to publishing an inspiring range of literary fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

Akoya will begin publishing in spring 2026 with the release of They by award-winning Danish writer Helle Helle, translated from its original Danish by Martin Aitken.

Akoya acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Gina Winje at Winje Agency with rights sold in six languages. They is the first of three books by Helle Helle that Akoya has acquired, with Hafni Says and Hey Hafni following.

The Oldest Bitch Alive by Morgan Day (Fiction) – Morgan Day’s novel follows Gelsomina, an aging French bulldog who lives in a glass house and one day ingests an orb of parasitic worms.

El Secreto de Marcial by Jorge Fernandez Diaz (Fiction) – Winner of the 2025 Nadal Award, Fernandez Diaz, with an autobiographical novel set between the mid-20th century and the present day, following a writer’s search for his late father’s true identity change.

Reading the Waves by Linda Yuknavitch (Non-fiction) – The frank and revealing memoir of a writer who draws from her own creativity to heal.

Before you submit, see if it fits. See if your book fits in with these Akoya titles. Although since they’re brand new, there’s a limited selection for sure.
