Welcome to Black Odyssey Media. Since their May 2023 debut, Black Odyssey Media—an independent, Black-woman–owned publishing house—has been transforming the literary landscape. While traditional publishing still offers only 5–7% representation of Black authors, Black Odyssey actively champions emerging and established writers.

As one of the few Black-owned traditional publishers, Black Odyssey creates a vital space for marginalized voices while providing high-quality, inclusive stories for readers everywhere. The Black Odyssey mission is to make a lasting impact—one story at a time.

Black Odyssey embraces both emerging and established writers, providing a supportive publishing home where voices that resonate with today’s diverse readership can grow and thrive.

Unsolicited submissions welcome. No agent required.

Black Odyssey is looking for: Literary Fiction, Upmarket Contemporary Romance, Sensual Erotica, Commercial Street-Lit, Select Fantasy, Women’s Crime Thrillers, Psychological and Suspense Thrillers, Domestic Thrillers, LGBTQIA+, Urban Romance, Mafia and Billionaire Romance, Entangled Situationships, Select Coming-of-Age, Celebrity/Influencer Novel-Mashups, Select Memoirs, and Novelizations. All with a black twist.

Black Odyssey is only interested in exclusive, high-quality concept submissions from agented and unagented authors. Please submit a query letter, full-page synopsis, and first six chapters of your manuscript.
