About 2Leaf Press

Founded in 2012, 2Leaf Press is a proud, self-described Black/Brown, female-led, independent, non-profit press. The 2Leaf goal is to publish poets, authors, artists, activists, and scholars from multiple generations and diverse cultural backgrounds who share stories and ideas that inform, entertain, educate, inspire, and connect with readers worldwide.

2Leaf Press publishes multigenerational and multicultural authors, artists, and scholars. Key thematic areas include: Social Justice & Nonfiction: Exploring historical, sociopolitical, and current affairs. Poetry: Including works rooted in the Nuyorican poetry movement. Multicultural Literature: Amplifying the perspectives of people of color, women, and the LGBTQ community.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a 2Leaf Press author. 2Leaf accepts unsolicited mss. No agent required.

2Leaf publishes a wide range of non-fiction books on politics, and cultural and contemporary issues (LGBTQ, feminism, multicultural, race), including creative non-fiction, literary criticism, autobiographies, biographies, memoirs, and collections of short stories, essays, personal narratives, and travelogues.

They occasionally publish fiction, and while they no longer accept first-time poets, they will continue to consider poetry books from established poets.

No young adult, board books, early readers, cookbooks, romance, and self-help books.

2Leaf Authors

Dedria Humphries Barker – Dedriais a member of the Squaw Valley Community of Writers. Her work has appeared in Redbook magazine, The Detroit News, ABSOLUTE VISIONS: An Anthology of Speculative Fiction, Literary Mama, and Sundry: A Journal of the Arts. A native of Detroit, she earned a MA in English from Wayne State University.

Fredrick D. Kakinami Cloyd – Frederick is an independent writer, scholar, artist/performer, and activist whose work focuses on cultural histories and as it relates to social justice. His Black-American and Japanese heritages are fuel for his book and project on the historical Black Pacific. Cloyd has been published in such publications as Kartika Review, Oakland Word, The Pacific Reader, andf Nikkei Heritage, among others.

Carmela Ferradáns – Carmela is a professor of Hispanic Studies at Illinois Wesleyan University, specializing in contemporary Spanish poetry with a strong interest in critical theory and cultural studies. In addition to language courses, Ferradáns teaches Modern and Contemporary Spanish cultural history and literature.

2Leaf Press produces high-quality books in hardcover, paperback, and eBook editions that rival those from major publishing houses. They attract a diverse range of submissions from individuals of various backgrounds, including people of color, women, LGBTQ community members, and White authors who value the expected editorial standards of their work. More importantly, 2Leaf Press is committed to publishing works that address social justice issues through poetry and non-fiction.

2Leaf Accomplishments

Since its founding in 2012, 2Leaf Press has published 56 print books and 40 eBooks, showcasing 31 authors and featuring contributions from over 200 writers.

The common thread among their authors is their unique cultural perspectives, which are evident in the fiction and nonfiction they produce across various genres. They draw on their diverse experiences in areas such as travel, art, politics, and social issues to offer readers fresh ideas and viewpoints.
