“Fernwood Press promotes poetry collections that speak to the human capacity for spiritual experience. Fernwood Press is a not-for-profit literary imprint.
About Fernwood Press
Fernwood Press publishes poetry collections in the Greater Northwest US, but their authors come from all over. Fernwood has a robust bookseller network in both Oregon and Washington State. Fernwood books are sold all over the world.

Fernwood Press Submissions
“We seek to publish the very best poetry, especially from previously unpublished and lesser-known authors. We select manuscripts through an open submissions process that occurs year-round.” No agent? No problem.
Manuscripts should be 50 to 100 pages of poetry, submitted in .rtf, .doc, or .docx formats only. All submissions should be made via email. We do not accept unsolicited paper submissions.
Eligibility: Poets writing in English are eligible. Previous book publication is not a consideration. Simultaneous submissions are permissible, but entrants are asked to notify Fernwood Press immediately if a manuscript becomes committed elsewhere.
There is no open submission fee.
All submissions are eligible for publication by Fernwood Press with a standard royalty contract.

Meet the Team
Eric Muhr (Publisher/Executive Editor – Eric) is the publisher and executive editor for Fernwood Press, an imprint of Barclay Press. Eric’s interests include landscape photography, experimental community, deconstructed theology, quiet spaces, and food. In junior high, his nickname was “The Brain.”
Joann Boswell (Copy Editor) – Joann is a copy editor and sensitivity reader, who has also been published (twice!) by Fernwood Press. Jo loves cloudy days filled with coffee, contradictions, dystopian fiction, justice, handholding, forest bathing, and hope. Her superpower might be whimsy.
Sarah Frey (Publishing Asst.) – Sarah is the assistant to the publisher. She reads poetry submissions and manages shipping. She enjoys hiking, getting pulled into a good book, and conversation over a cup of coffee.
