Fly on the Wall Press is an independent publisher and small press in Manchester, England. They publish innovative novels, novellas, short stories, poetry and more on pressing issues from exceptional authors from around the globe, all with a socially conscious theme.

First launched in 2018, FWP has won numerous awards, including Small Press of the Year at the Nibbies, Northern England/2024.

Fly on the Wall Press is looking for manuscripts with strong narrative voices, with bold, distinctive styles that make a statement, works that incorporate political engagement through:

– Social commentary
– Political themes
– Unique perspectives

They are not always open for submissions, so be sure and email them first.

*Sound too good to be true? Here’s the rub: You have to purchase one of their books; that’s your ticket to ride. Here it is, straight from the horse’s mouth.

“As an independent, unfunded press, all our profits are reinvested into publishing new titles. We don’t charge for our time reading, but ask that prospective authors support our work by purchasing a book to demonstrate their interest in our list and to ensure their work aligns with our publishing ethos.”

Sounds fair enough. Remember, in the old days we used to have to buy envelopes, postage, go down to the post office. There are titles for as low as £3.99. You make the call. I wouldn’t have put it in here if I didn’t think it a good press.
