Affirm Press is an independent, Melbourne-based publisher. Affirm publishes fiction and non-fiction. Although now officially part of Simon & Schuster, Affirm still considers itself a small press and accepts works from unagented authors.

Affirm was founded in 2010 by Martin Hughes, currently CEO and publishing director, and Graeme Wise, chair of the Australian investment firm the Adidem Group, to publish books on a limited basis. It became a full-time business when Keiran Rogers, now sales and finance director, joined the company in 2013. The company publishes both adult fiction and non-fiction.

Unsolicited submissions okay. No agent required.

Affirm Press only accepts submissions for their general list on the first Monday of each month, and twice yearly on their Kid’s and teen list.

2025 Affirm Press Fellowship Announced

Affirm Press is proud to announce another great Australian fellowship, in partnership with Varuna, the National Writer’s House.

Back in September, writers of crime, thriller and mystery novels were invited to apply for one of four spots in this week-long residency, offering independent writing time in a private writing studio, as well as editorial support from Affirm Press editors who will also be staying at Varuna.

Affirm received a whopping 92 applications this year from which four writers were selected. Congratulations.
