About Generous Press

Generous Press is a romance fiction publisher focused on diverse and inclusive love stories, particularly those by LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and disabled authors. They are known for publishing “lush, high-caliber” romance fiction and championing “radical inclusivity.”

Generous Press, a new imprint of independent publisher Row House Publishing devoted to diverse romance, publishes just around three books per year.

Generous Press is looking for completed romance novels.

If your novel is selected for publication at Generous Press, you will be offered an advance of at least $5,000 towards your royalties. Publishing rights are granted to Generous Press for a limited time. Books may be published in e-book or audio, but their focus is high-quality print books. Generous is, after all, a traditional press.

Meet Publisher Elaina Ellis

Elaina Ellis is the publisher and co-founder at Generous Press. For ten years she worked at the Pulitzer Prize-winning publishing house Copper Canyon Press where she served as editor. She is the author of Write About an Empty Birdcage.

Ellis has edited books from all over the world: Tokyo, New Orleans and Los Angeles. Her home base is in Bellingham, Washington.
