Catalyst Press is an independent press founded in 2017. They publish African writers and African stories. Catalyst publishes literary fiction, graphic novels, memoir, travel, crime fiction, science, and books for young readers.

Catalyst Press Submissions

Unsolicited submissions welcome. No agent required.

Catalyst Press offers primarily traditional publishing contracts and publishes approximately 6-8 titles a year. Submit during annual reading period in July & August.

Catalyst Announces New Partnership with Modjaji

Catalyst Press announces a new international publishing partnership with Modjaji Books beginning May 2025.

This collaboration will see Catalyst Press handling international publishing and distribution for Modjaji’s catalog, which includes over 100 titles. Modjaji Books will continue its operations in South Africa and the southern African region, maintaining its editorial independence and local focus. This partnership builds on their existing relationship, which began in 2016 with Catalyst acquiring international rights to five Modjaji titles.
