About Broadstone Books

Welcome to Broadstone Books, an independent press based in Frankfort, Kentucky. Broadstone publishes primarily poetry.

Founded in 2002 by Larry and long-time friend Stephen Taylor, the name “Broadstone” is an amalgam of Broadway and Limestone, for the streets in Lexington, Kentucky where they attended college.

The company first became active in publishing in 2003, under the imprint Broadstone Books, and since then has published over 100 books, including works by regional and national authors, established and emerging.

While specializing in poetry and related titles, the press is open to many other genres and subjects – see the “Submissions” link above for more details. Larry serves as publisher and associate editor (also shipping clerk and janitor).

Broadstone Books Submissions

Broadstone accepts submissions from unagented authors. Please query for open submission dates.

Broadstone is a publisher of poetry books and does not accept individual poems or stories for publication.

At this time we publish books in print only, not as eBooks.

Fiction: Broadstone does publish fiction, now and then, but don’t get your hopes up. While they are open to submissions please note that as primarily publishers of poetry, they are keenly interested in language. They are open to art, memoir, biographies, critical literary essays, and social and cultural history, if the subject matter is right. Query.
