About Ig Publishing

Founded in 2002, Ig Publishing is a New York-based, independent press dedicated to publishing original literary fiction and political and cultural non-fiction. Ig books have been reviewed in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, Oprah Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, NPR, among many others.

Among the awards Ig books has received are a 5 Under 35 pick, a CLMP Award for Fiction, a Center for Fiction First Novel Prize Shortlist Selection, several ALA Notable picks, several PEN awards, and several state book awards. Their children’s books have won a Christopher medal and a Sydney Taylor Honor Selection, among others.

Ig also publishes a selection of classic reprints of important works of media and propaganda, including the work of Edward Bernays, William Lutz and Vance Packard. They call these their “Class(ig)s.”

Meet the Editor

Robert Lasner is the co-founder of Ig Publishing, a publishing company based in Brooklyn, New York. His books include For Fucks Sake, a bildungsroman novel which gained somewhat of a cult following, and The Real Republican Dictionary, a satirical dictionary of the Republican lexicon.

Lasner also co-edited Proud to be Liberal, a collection of essays from liberal voices in America. His short story, “Snow Forts,” was featured in the anthology, Forgotten Borough: Writers Come to Terms with Queens, published by SUNY Press.

Author Spotlight: R. L. Maizes

R.L. Maizes is the author of A Complete Fiction, a novel from Ig Publishing. Her previous novel, Other People’s Pets, won the 2021 Colorado Book Award in Fiction and was a Library Journal Best Debut of Summer/Fall 2020.

Her short stories have aired on National Public Radio and can be found in Electric Literature’s Recommended Reading and in The Best Small Fictions 2020. Maizes’s essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, O Magazine, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, and have aired on NPR.
